Choose a peer’s draft
Complete the peer review by following the directions in “How to Peer Review” below.
How to Peer Review
Part 1:
Make sure to save your reviews as a Word doc/docx (if you do not have Word, you can use Google Docs and save it as a Word doc/docx
Critique or review the draft of one classmate. Choose especially works by peers that have no reviews to ensure each person has feedback from classmates. You may not review a paper that has already been reviewed. If no drafts are left, then review a paper that has already been reviewed.
Once chosen, “reply” to the classmate confirming that you will be reviewing their draft, e.g., “Hello, I will be reviewing your draft.” This will count as your first reply.
When reviewing the draft document: Turn on “Track Changes.”
Use the “Add Comments” feature as well.
Your peer critique must consist of meaningful feedback, either in the text as comments or substantial sentences that demonstrate a thorough reading of the peer papers and offer meaningful suggestions, corrections, and observations. Short, one-liners and other comments that do not reflect a thorough reading of the peer paper will not earn full credit.
When reviewing the works of others, ensure that the following are evidenced:
Title section
Grammar/Spelling
The organization and layout
The overall flow of the paper
* That the bibliography is correctly formatted in Chicago Manual of Style.
Part II.
In the discussion board, write a SWOT for the paper you reviewed and also attach the reviewed document with tracked edits – This will count as your second reply.
What is a strength?
What is a want-to-know-more? (What should be added? Gaps in the paper)?
What is an opportunity to improve the paper?
What is a takeaway? (what did you learn about the topic or about writing)?
Grading Rubric:
Submit draft to board – 30%
Feedback with SWOT – 35%
