RESEARCH PAPER ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
At the completion of this course, the student should be able
to think critically about counter-
terrorism studies and be familiar with the literature
supporting the discipline. This
assignment helps the student to develop these skills, as
well as provide an opportunity for the
student to complete an in-depth independent study of a
research question that interests them.
This assignment also helps the student develop research
skills and the use of scholarly
formatting (APA) that will assist them in further studies.
INSTRUCTIONS
The student will write a scholarly research paper on a topic
directly related to counterterrorism
or to a current counterterrorism issue, policy, or strategy.
The grading rubric for this
assignment provides standards for the student to follow.
Specific requirements include:
• Components: the paper will consist of a Title Page,
Abstract, Introduction
(containing the thesis statement), discussion, conclusion,
and references sections.
There should also be an examination of your topic from the
biblical worldview.
• Length: the body of the paper must be 8-10 pages. This
minimum requirement does
not include the title page, abstract, and reference page. It
should be written using
New Times Roman font, 12-pt, with 1-inch margins.
• Format: APA, 7th ed.
• Citations: at least 8 scholarly sources, with at least 3
of the 6 sources from peer-
reviewed, scholarly journals. The student should attempt to
use the most current sources
available, preferably within the last five years.
