Rather than a written case study the information is provided to you in the form

Rather than a written case study the information is provided to you in the form of media sources about an organisation who, like all organisation, have human resources challenges. The case study sources are listed below. You must elicit relevant case study information from those sources and use this information in your answer. The sources relate specifically to Air Services Australia the case organisation for this assessment. Familiarise yourself with the case study information and work through the weekly topics.  It is recommended that you answer question 1 after working through the week 1 material, question two after week two etc.
Make sure you follow the specific referencing requirements for the course. Failure to follow the specific referencing requirements means failing the assignment. Your intext references should page numbers in addition to APA referencing.
Utilise relevant information from  the case study about Air Services Australia when answering the case study questions. You may like to use other ‘pages’ of the Air Services Australia website as required.

Cut and paste the question (not part of word limit) and respond to the question. Support your arguments by drawing on relevant academic literature as required by the specific referencing requirements in this course and case study examples.
Ensure each response is separated from the others, note that each question aligns with a weekly topic from the course content.
Apportion the same word count to each question @ 500 for each question
Specific Referencing requirements
You should also reference the case study facts as necessary- as we normally reference a case study simply by saying ‘case study’ or ‘cs’ we have created case study references for you rather than you having to provide a full and accurate reference, this caters for the multiple case study references, so you can put ‘CS-ABC News or CS-Air Services Website-Careers”
Each of your answers must have 3 references minimum (although we anticipate more as you must reference as necessary) which must include:
ONE from the textbook (including page number)
ONE other credible sources(references) found in this course content (including page number).
ONE high quality, relevant, credible peer-reviewed journal article from your own unique research (including page number) (last 15 years, suitable journal for an HR course and for the subject matter).
References: Provide a Reference list (at the end of the paper) and in-text references. Use the APA 7 style and include page numbers in your intext references.
ASSESSMENT ONE:
Imagine you are a senior person in the Human Resources Department of Air Services Australia (Air Services). A new leader has recently joined and wants you to bring them ‘up to date’ on some of the key issues facing Air Services. Write your answer as if you are writing a report to that leader (but no need for specific report formatting eg no contents page etc), as this is an academic assignment you will also include academic referencing.
Question 1: Summarise key aspects of Air Services overall business strategy and identify two different HR strategies/plans and explain how each can support Air Services business strategy. (Week 1)
This is your opportunity to make clear to the new leader how relevant and important HR is to support the overall business!
Make sure you reference the strategy source (eg Air Services website) as well as using academic sources.
Use definitions and explanations as required
Be specific with the overall strategy and use specific case study examples about why the two HR strategies/plans you have identified will support Air Services overall strategy..
Question 2:  Since Covid-19 there has been a major push within Air Services to provide more flexible work practices and increased job crafting. Explain, to the senior leader the benefit of job crafting and flexible work practices for Air Services Australia employees.  (Week 2)
Make sure you define and explain the concepts and the rationale of these two aspects of job design.
Try and use  case study specific examples to make your points (eg you can use your ‘artistic licence’ by choosing certain roles and why job crafting/flexibility might be valuable).
Question 3: The new leader would like a summary of the approach and key issues for recruitment of air traffic controllers. Based on what you understand about Air Services Australia (from the case study material) provide a critical analysis of their current recruitment processes for air traffic controllers. Can you make further recommendations based on the literature and what you know of Air Services? (Week 3)
Review key parts of Air Services recruitment process (eg from their website but here you could also do some minor exploration about how Air Services sources candidates or state assumptions) for air traffic controllers, note the apparent shortage and a need to expand the candidate pool.
Use theory (references) to confirm (or otherwise eg critically analyse) why these recruitment processes should be effective (eg some key aspects from the website about the role, the organisation, etc)
Don’t forget to include the case study facts (details about the job) in your answer
Is there anything else you would recommend regarding either attraction or reaching a suitable candidate pool (support this with a reference).
Question 4: The leader has also asked about candidate selection practices. Using HR theory review the current practices and discuss the rationale behind the selection techniques used in selecting air traffic controllers. (Week 4).
Consider key characteristics of the role of an air traffic controller- how would you recommend testing  for those characteristics?
Do you foresee any problems when selecting? How would you recommend these problems could be resolved? eg candidate deception, bias?
Make sure you have provided in-text references and include your reference list  (APA) at the end of the document. Take care with following specific referencing requirements regarding minimum and type.
ASSESSMENT TWO
Assessment Two Case Study
Use the case study from the first assessment, the same instructions apply. Don’t forget to follow the specific course referencing requirements
Question 1: The new leader is asking for your recommendations regarding what should be done to manage and perhaps measure employee performance. Make some recommendations about performance appraisals at Air Services Australia.
Define performance appraisal and explain its benefit and perhaps some pitfalls.
Make some suggestions (supported by HR theory) based on what you know of Air Services Australia strategy on how performance appraisal could be implemented.
(*we understand you won’t have all the case study details of this organisation here but you can still provide a general over view and all students have a general understanding of some roles eg air traffic controller.
Question 2: Outline, for the new leader of Air Services Australia, some key recommendations for compensating staff.
Define and explain the principles of compensation and benefits.
Is pay for performance suitable in this environment (note it is a public (service) organisation, eg is it suitable for Air Services Australia).
Outline how pay should be determined.
Question 3: Explain to the new leader how learning and development supports organisational performance. Include in that discussion some examples of the ‘HR lifecycle’ (eg job analysis, selection, performance appraisal, compensation etc) which are directly associated with learning and development.
Define learning and development and make the link with strategy
Choose a 2 or 3 other parts of the HR life cycle and explain the links that they have with learning and development.
Question 4: Explain how diversity can impact an organisation’s performance. Why might Air Services Australia benefit from a diverse workforce (Particularly weeks 7, 8 and 9).
Start general, define diversity (and what types eg gender, age etc).
What are the advantages and (if possible) disadvantages of diversity (or lack of diversity it)- what do the academic authors say?
Relate this to Air Services Australia examples.
Question 5: Explain why it is important to measure/evaluate the success of HR interventions/projects/actions. Choose an HR strategy and identify a specific plan or intervention suitable for Air Services Australian and explain key aspects of how that could be evaluated. (particularly week 10)
What might measurement/evaluation involve? What is the rationale for measurement and evaluation of HR interventions.
Why is it necessary (don’t forget HR theory)?
With what you know about Air Services choose an HR intervention/project- it could be taken from any of the planning issues raised in week one in Stone.
What specific measures will you recommend to measure the intervention.
