The midterm exam consists of 2 essay questions. Students must use current, peer-reviewed journal articles to support their answers. You must respond to each essay in 500-700 words, excluding the references. A minimum of three current scholarly sources must support each answer. This includes using in-text citations in the body of your answer. Quotes are not permitted as part of your essay answers. Learners must use their own original words and paraphrase the scholarly literature giving credit to the source/s that inspired your thoughts.  Each response is worth 50 points for a possible 100 points earned. The Exam Rubric will be used to evaluate your answer and this is how you will earn points for each question. The midterm exam is worth 20% of your final course grade. The midterm exam is not timed. The midterm exam is due at the end of week 4.

This trend in our nation’s aging population is also represented within the nation’s prisons system. There is obviously tremendous value in the establishment of veteran treatment courts, especially among those diagnosed with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or a traumatic brain injury (TBI). 
Is there a need to create “First Responder Courts” given that many first responders, including those in law enforcement and corrections, suffering from depression, anxiety, and PTSD leading to many dying by suicide. Develop a persuasive argument both for and against the establishment of first responder courts.
