Experience and reflection on that experience is integral to our growth as leaders. Much of this course will require personal reflection. First, consider the definition of leadership presented in Chapter 1 of our textbook. Then, consider a leadership experience where you learned an important lesson. Using Kolb’s model (pp.31-33), describe your learning process in that experience. If you have difficulty thinking of a leadership lesson, please review Chapter 1 (numerous examples of leadership are discussed in the chapter). Remember that not all leadership lessons have to be positive–we often learn important leadership lessons from making mistakes or from negative experiences!
- Identify and discuss the leadership learning experience.
- Describe what happened and what you learned using Kolb’s Experiential Learning Model from Chapter 1.
- Close your post with how your leadership lesson relates to one of the foundational principles of leadership discussed on pp. 6-7.
