Assignment Task

Activities

This project requires you to facilitate a discussion and debate on ideas with at least two different audience types. In doing so, you need to demonstrate that you can establish a communication framework, develop your ideas for communication and then debate and discuss those ideas. You are required to communicate your ideas in a persuasive manner to encourage a response, reaction, and critical discussion.

You will need access to a physical audience which can be your classmates, colleagues or other group of people made up of family and friends as is relevant to your specific situation.

You will also need access to an online platform (e.g. a forum like Reddit, Twitter, Whirlpool etc.) where you can post a blog or other written communication to initiate a conversation that will turn into a debate. You will need the relevant digital tools to participate in the forum such as a device and online user account.

Objective

The first step is to select a topic of interest to you. This could be industry-relevant or of recreational interest to you. It needs to be a lively topic that generates a range of ideas. It may be one that compares popular brands, new and emerging technology or approaches, be slightly controversial, or encourage strong opinions by others. It could be related to IT, politics, education, religion, sports or something completely different. It may be a topic that helps you raise awareness about a certain cause. Whatever it is though, it must be something that you are interested in and that can encourage debate and idea generation by those you are communicating with. You will need to conduct desktop research to complete this section.
