Please write a short paper in which you rephrase in your own words Waldron’s argument why Qin/Ch’in did NOT build a “Great Wall” (your thesis). You should reinforce your thesis by describing the most likely kinds of infrastructure/fortifications that the Qin/Ch’in state built around 215 BCE. You should reference in particular pp. 18-22 and Map 2 in Waldron’s book.
You should begin with a specific thesis/argument, drawn from this chapter and from what you now know from the associated lectures and accompanying additional materials I have provided. Following your thesis, the body of your paper should include specific examples drawn from the book, with appropriate citation of page number showing the source of your information, ex. (Waldron p. __). I want to see that you can use specific historical data that Waldron provides, reframed in your own words, illustrating that you understand Waldron’s argument.
