Part 1: 
Please use the terminology you have learned in the past several days to describe the posted work of art(Use all these words: Balance, Symmetry, Asymmetrical Balance, Emphasis/Focal Point/Subordination, High/Low relief, Repetition/Rhythm, Scale/Proportion, Line, Unity/Variety, Form and Content.  Plus, pick either representational, abstract or non-representational/non-objective and defend your choice). You will be graded on usage of the terms in addition to surmising the content of the work.  I will tell you that this is a ‘cylinder seal’.  It is up to you to investigate what a ‘cylinder seal’ actually is to determine form. (Image attached below) 
Part 2: 
Please investigate Sumerian culture and report back to us the five most interesting things you discovered.  We are looking for new information regarding this unique culture and it’s impact on history, not items from our readings.   Please do not investigate the cylinder seal itself – I am interested in knowing your interpretation of it.  On the other hand, please *do* investigate what a cylinder seal is, how they were used in general and then move on to investigating unique aspects of the Sumerian culture you investigated.  Your Sumerian items should be more than a few words.  Please explain the points you are making about the culture.  (Sumerian facts do not have to relate to their use of cylinder seals.)
