Scenario:
You are working as an art therapist in a community mental health center. Your client, Alex, is a 35-year-old individual who has been diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and depression. Alex struggles with self-esteem and has difficulty expressing emotions verbally. They have been attending art therapy sessions for six weeks now.
During today’s session, Alex seemed particularly distressed. They spent the entire session working on a single piece of artwork, which appeared chaotic and disorganized. When you attempted to engage in conversation about the artwork, Alex became withdrawn and refused to discuss it. At the end of the session, Alex abruptly left without scheduling another appointment.
Questions:
