In a 1 – 2 page white paper, create a tactical plan showing how you will gather intelligence about crime and how your department would identify the hot spots.

Keep in mind the following criteria will be used to evaluate your assignment:
Choose a community where you can access crime and demographic information.
Locate the hot spots where most criminal activity occurs.
Describe the community, the type of criminal activity, where it occurs, and what resources you will use to gather this intelligence (data).
The assignment is formatted as a white paper (see resources)

For anyone not understanding the tactical white paper plan here it is in a nutshell as I explained it in the live lecture.
find a city – any city (I gave you Philadelphia so I already did step one for you)
look up the Compstat or Crime mapping for that city on the internet (I gave you the Philly one just to save you time).
Prepare to write your 2 to 3 page paper in APA format so first do your cover sheet, then do your double spaced essay and your last page is your reference page.
to write your essay you need to first tell me about the city you chose such as the demographic: race, gender, education level, socioeconomic status, crime rate of the town.
Then tell me (from you looking at the compstat) what types of crimes are most prevalent (again – look at the crime map I gave you from Philly).
Then tell me how you plan to identify where the crimes are happening (the answer is you will use CompStat) and how you plan to stop those crimes from happening in that city (you are the chief remember).
