Students must watch a speech at least 10:00 minutes in length. Speeches may be of any genre and from any point in history. Students must provide the link to the website to the video at the bottom of the Speech Critique assignment. While students may choose speeches from any location, some suggested websites for finding speeches are:

You must write a personal critique of the speech of your choice following these guidelines. It must be a minimum of 300 words with 2-3 paragraphs. Please use correct grammar and punctuation. You must answer at least 5 of these questions in your essay to fulfill the requirements of the speech critique.

Here is what you should critique:

(1) Why did you choose this speech?

(2) What is your overall impression of the topic?

(3) What could have made the speech better?

(4) What would you have done differently, if anything?

(5) Did the speaker do anything distracting?

(6) Did the speaker give noticeable transitions when speaking?

(7) Did the speaker convey his enthusiasm for the topic?

(8) What is your overall impression of the speaker?

(9) Who is the audience of the speaker?

(10) Was the audience interacting with the speaker through body language, laughter, clapping, and nodding of heads?
