Prompt: 
What is individualism and in what ways it is a danger to both individuality and democratic government? Compare and contrast Karl Marx and Alexis de Tocqueville on the social causes of individualism and the proper remedies to it. Is individualism a failed idea entirely, or are there positive aspects to individuality as well? If we do keep individuality, what kind do we need (romantic, autonomous, virtuous)?
